Yes. Opening an account is free, with no card, and everything outside Smart mode is free: unlimited accounts, budgets and goals, Apple Pay logging, statement import, insights and a shared household. Balance Plus is an optional plan that adds Smart mode and a few extras.
Smart mode, where Claude (an AI model by Anthropic) answers harder questions in Ask Balance, turns searches in plain words into filters, suggests categories, helps quick add and receipt reading when the on-device reading falls short, and writes a monthly Smart recap. Plus also brings early access to new features, and the iPhone Home Screen widget once it is ready. Plus costs $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year (₪9.90 or ₪79 in Israel).
Start it in the app whenever you like: 14 days of Plus, no card needed, once per account. When it ends, nothing renews and nothing is charged. Plus simply turns off and Ask Balance goes back to answers worked out on your device.
Not yet, payments open soon. On the web you will pay through Stripe, and in the iPhone app through the App Store. The free trial works today. We never see or store your card number.
Any time. If you pay on the web, open Settings → Balance Plus and manage your plan there. If you subscribed in the iPhone app, open the iPhone Settings app → your name → Subscriptions. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel, and you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for.
For purchases on the web, contact us within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it. You also keep every cancellation right consumer protection law gives you, including the Israeli Consumer Protection Law. Purchases made in the App Store are refunded by Apple under its own policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
No. Plus only adds things on top. Everything that is free in Balance stays free, and if Plus itself ever changes, we will tell you before it applies.
Not for now: Plus is per person, so each member who wants Smart mode has their own. Sharing a household is free for everyone. Sharing Plus with your household is an idea we may look at later.
Only what each answer needs, in a minimized form: amounts, dates, category names and cleaned-up merchant text. Never your name, email, notes or account names. It goes to Anthropic (Claude) only when you use a Smart feature, and we do not store your questions or the answers. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
No. Transactions come from Apple Pay through the Shortcuts app on your iPhone, from a statement file your bank lets you download, or from quick add. Balance never asks for a bank password.
Any time. Export your transactions as CSV or download a full JSON backup from Settings, and delete your account whenever you like.
