How this is worked out
- You save the same amount at the end of every month.
- A return, if you add one, is compounded monthly and stays the same.
- Round-ups: on average a purchase leaves about half the round-up unit as spare change.
- Inflation and tax on returns are not included.

Savings goal questions
The gap between your target and what you have already saved, divided by the months until your date. With a return, the calculator uses the standard savings formula, so each month needs a little less.
Each card purchase is rounded up to the next 1, 5 or 10 and the difference is counted toward your goal. In Balance, round-ups are tracked automatically for new expenses once you turn them on; no money is moved, so you transfer the total to savings yourself. This calculator only estimates it.
